MEDITATION OF QUIET WISDOM
Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation

What is TWIM?

TWIM is an acronym for Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation,

It is a combination of Vipassana, which is insight, and Samatha, which is tranquility.

In the original Suttas, two different types of meditation (Vipassana and Samatha) were never raised.

but this was a later development.

This meditation, which can have the Bhrama Viharas (Divine Abodes) which are loving-kindness, compassion, empathic joy and equanimity or breathing as the object of meditation, is a meditative training that develops a gradual, gentle and attentive path to be able to cease suffering (Nibbana).

Therefore it is a practice where attention and concentration are balanced in a very natural way,

This gives a deepening of the meditative states (Jhanas) and allows the emergence of an ever greater experiential understanding of the conditioned process of mental becoming.

This process was explained by the Buddha as Dependent Origination and is the core of the Dhamma.

To be able to see this process directly and intuitively, a mind of deep calm and attention is necessary. TWIM is the method based on the original Suttas for this realization.

What are the 6 R's?

The 6 R's are an acronym in English for

Recognize – Recognize

Release-Release

Relax-Relax

Resmile - Smile again

Return- Return to the object of meditation

Repeat- Repeat

The 6 R's is a process that is applied every time the attention moves to a mental or physical object that is not the object of meditation, this is described in Buddhism as distraction. So we are with the object of meditation and, at some point, a distraction arises, we recognize it, we let it go, that is, we stop thinking about it, we relax the mind, the physical head and the body, we smile, we return to the object of meditation with a clear and happy mind and we stay with it as much as we can.
